Thought I would pass this on. If you recall Julie was killed in August of 2008 in Clearwater, MN. I work with Julie's son. I thought maybe MidMN could do the same as what was done at buck hill.
Subject: LOOK Foundation
Many of you know that my good friend and wife of Jon Sandberg, Julie Casey,
was tragically killed on her road bike last year by a semi truck.
In her memory, we are launching a non profit organization called LOOK
Foundation. In her honor we are hoping to create awareness for motorists and
cyclists.
The website will be up and running before August 15th, her one year
anniversary and the day I race Leadville with other Life Time Fitness
members.
Look for www.lookfoundation.org soon!
In Leadville, we will have Julie and Jon's son, Brenner, and daughter, Tessa,
present at the the race to commemorate her life. We hope to have a LOOK
foundation trailer and/or tent at the Twin Lakes rest stop. Hopefully this
will create a national awareness as riders such as Lance Armstrong, Floyd
Landis, Levi Leipheimer, and the Leadville 100 reigning champion Dave Weins
draw in the crowds.
Last week Suzanne (LTF cycling instructor/road/mt bike rider) and I brought polypro LOOK t shirts (orchestrated by Kris Kosmas-Lyons) to the Buck Hill race and sold
over 100 in a few hours!
Penn Cycle owner Pat Sorenson and MC Timmy B from
Penn Cycle promoted the cause proudly!
If you want to donate to a great cause, and would
like one, please email me at pschmidt@pconline.com. You can pay when your order comes in.
Sizing is as informal as this......my husband Al wears a men's large (180 lbs), Jon Sandberg wears a men's medium (140 lbs but 6’ tall), Josh
(my 135 lb stepson) wears a men's small, and I wear a women's small (128 lbs). The t
shirt is fitting, comfortable to work out in, the LOOK decal is reflective,
and it sends a great message to the world!
Attached is a picture of fellow Buck Hill racers in the t shirts. They cost
25 dollars and shipment will be at the end of August.
Meanwhile, ball caps in black with the LOOK decal in reflective gray will be available
for $20, and arm warmers in black with the LOOK decal in white will also
be available for $20.
In a few weeks, all merchandise will be available on
the website to order through Paypal.
One more note, once the website is up and running, we will have a blog site
where we encourage cyclists from all over the nation to share their stories.
For what we know in the end, is we all love the sport of cycling and our
friends and family who are dear to us.
